Wild about Weeds is a locally owned gardening business based in Wellington’s southern suburbs. We offer our customers a tailored, ecological approach to garden care and work across a wide range of garden types and conditions.

The type of work

The work involves a mix of garden taming, planting and regular garden maintenance. You’ll be working across different properties and conditions, with tasks that vary from day to day.

Tasks include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Hand weeding, weed eating and knapsack spraying.

  • Pruning and hedge trimming.

  • Planting and ongoing plant care.

  • Using and maintaining power tools and sprayers.

  • Gathering green waste for removal or composting on site.

  • Accurately recording time and job details on a tablet.

  • A passionate gardener or curious about nature, plants, the environment, horticulture or ecology.

  • Reliable, honest and positive in your approach to work.

  • A problem solver who enjoys figuring things out on site.

  • A clear and prompt communicator across all channels.

  • Willing to learn and share knowledge.

  • Comfortable working outdoors and getting stuck in, including getting dirty, carrying gear, digging and weeding.

What you’ll need

To work with us, you’ll need to:

  • Be available to work at least two days a week.

  • Live locally in Wellington’s southern suburbs and have a reliable way to get to work.

  • Hold a current, valid driver’s licence.

Pay depends on skills and experience, with opportunities to increase as your skills develop. Employment agreements are permanent part-time or casual, depending on availability.
