Garden consultation and coaching
Practical guidance to help you work smarter in your garden
Practical tailored advice for your garden
Garden consultations and coaching are about sharing knowledge, building confidence and helping you understand your garden. They’re ideal if you want practical, tailored advice that suits your space and conditions, without committing to ongoing garden care.
A consultation can be a one-off visit, a seasonal check in, or after we’ve done a garden clean-up.
How a garden consultation can help you
Garden consultations suit many different situations. You might have just moved into a new home and want to understand how to care for the garden that’s already there. You might enjoy gardening but feel unsure about what to keep, what to manage and what to remove. Or you may want reassurance before making changes.
A common challenge in Wellington gardens is that invasive plants can quickly take over your garden crowding out your desired plants. With the right plant knowledge and regular attention, it’s possible to nurture the plants you want and keep invasive plants under control. We can help you understand what’s invasive, what’s useful and how to work with what’s already there.
Consultations are also helpful if you want to talk through bigger questions, such as reshaping a wild area, maintaining a garden with less effort, or making changes that suit the site, the climate and your time.
There’s no quick fix, but we can help you work smarter and alongside nature, rather than fighting against it.
How consultations work
Consultations are practical and conversational, usually about an hour on site. We walk through your garden together and chat as we go.
The focus is on sharing observations, ideas and advice in the moment. You’re welcome to take notes, photos or recordings during the visit so you can capture what’s most useful to you. A seasonal consultation will focus on what tasks for that season as well as answering your questions and problem solving.
This approach keeps things simple and avoids unnecessary paperwork. It’s about giving you relevant information you can use in your own way.
What you’ll take away
After your consultation, your gardening kete may include:
How to identify useful plants, invasive plants and other weeds on your property.
Key factors to consider when clearing or reshaping an area, such as privacy, shelter, erosion, power lines, soil type and reducing water and nutrient run off.
Ways to reduce trips to the landfill and use what’s on-site, especially helpful if property access is tricky.
Clear next steps to help you get started or keep progressing with your garden.
Information that relates directly to your situation.
Useful resources to support you after the consultation.
Pricing
Garden consultations and coaching are offered as an on site visit for $170 including GST. Visits are typically about an hour and focus on practical, on-site advice.
