Leave it to Wild about Weeds. We specialise in clearing overgrown gardens in Wellington’s southern suburbs. We know about wild, weedy areas and get stuck in, reclaiming your space while discovering the positive features, reusing what’s available and identifying areas that need extra attention.
It doesn’t take nature long to reclaim an untended garden. Invasive weeds can quickly smother and take nutrients away from your desired plants. Before you know it, you have a jungle. A garden clean-up will help you see your property’s potential and give you a fresh start.
Overgrown gardens welcome
Many of the gardens we work in have been untended and end up in the too hard basket. Steep banks, invasive weeds and fast growth are common in Wellington gardens, particularly in windy, shaded or hard to access areas.
If your garden feels overwhelming or has become a jungle, you’re not alone. We’re used to working in wild, weedy spaces and enjoy uncovering the potential beneath the overgrowth.
How we work
We’ll arrange an initial chat to meet you and your garden and talk through what you’d like to achieve. After the visit, I email you notes from our conversation to ensure we have a shared understanding of the work. If you decide you’d like us to go ahead, email us and we’ll put you in the schedule and contact you before we do the mahi.
When working on larger or more overgrown areas, such as weed covered banks, neglected sections or steep Wellington gardens, we take a practical, ecological approach. We usually prioritise areas near paths and those visible from the house so your garden becomes safer and easier to move through straight away.

Weeding around desirable plants to protect what you want to keep. If you are comfortable with weed spraying, we may spray areas away from desirable plants, particularly invasive weeds, pest plants and paths.
Managing invasive weeds while keeping less harmful weeds to use as mulch or composted to improve soil health. Healthy soil with active microorganisms and fungal life is the basis of healthy plants.
Cutting down dead and unhealthy plants, shrubs and small trees.
Bagging and removing green waste, particularly invasive weeds that are likely to regrow.
A summary report and next steps
After the initial garden clean-up, we’ll email you a summary explaining what we did, along with any potential issues we’ve noticed and suggested solutions. This helps you understand what is happening in your garden and what the next priorities might be.
From there, you can choose to use our regular garden care service, or simply enjoy your garden again.
Pricing
For the first ten hours of work, the rate is $85 per hour including GST. After that, you become a regular customer and the rate is $80 per hour for each gardener.
Products used and waste removal are charged on an as used basis. Payment is due within 7 days. Prices are reviewed yearly.
